Article 21: Day 9 on the Homeopathic HCG Diet

For the first time throughout the course of the diet (a full 9 days, mind you) I forgot to weigh myself. I knew it would happen eventually. And I believe I warned you that I’m not really a big “routine” girl so don’t act surprised.

So there’s not gain or loss to report today when it comes to my weight. It’s Thursday and the weekend is coming up. I have some unavoidable functions that I’ll be attending this weekend and I’m not sure how that will work out. It’s kind of a wait and see type of thing, I guess.

My two kids are catching on a bit and they’ll randomly ask me when I’ve got something in my hand in the kitchen, “Is that on your diet, Mom?” I’ve got to point out that it’s too annoying, but at the same time. It’s kind of helpful. I wouldn’t want my kids to associate me with “cheating.”

I took the kids to school (they were late this morning) and then I took my HCG therapy drops and B-Total vitamin supplement. I picked up the cookbook and decided to glance through and see if there were any new recipes I’d like to try in the near future. I went to the store and got what I’d need for: Chicken Asparagus Soup, Turkey Tomato Soup and Orange Cremesicle. I got some other basics while I was there, too. The kids love apples so I’m always short! I like to go the regular grocery store rather than Walmart because the produce seems to be better and last longer. I’m not sure why that would be, but that’s how it seems to work out.

And the Melba Toast Spicy 3 Pepper crackers are never stocked at the Walmart. I think it’s a very definite lack. I might slip a comment to the manager or something that the item should be added to their purchasing list. I’m not sure if that would work, but it’s worth a try. They’re way better than any other of variety of Melba Toast I’ve tried and I’ve tried: garlic, sea salt, original, sesame…and I think one or two more that I can’t remember off the top of my head.

I ended up making Turkey and Tomato soup for lunch. It didn’t sound good when I was reading the recipe, but I really liked how it turned out. I put in a little bit of fresh herbs since I had them in the garden, but other than that I followed the recipe to the tee. I added some Melba Toast (original flavor…I thought I’d try them for dipping and scooping in the soup). And I saved my fruit so I could snack on an apple mid-afternoon.

For dinner I made Filet Mignon. (I did take my HCG first in case you thought I forgot). I even pulled the bacon off before I cooked it and then cooked it up for my kids. They love bacon. Smart little boogers, aren’t they? The Filet was great. I’ve always been a steak girl so there’s nothing wrong there. I hadn’t beef in a while and it was extra good after all the chicken and turkey. I’m still thinking about where I might go in my area to try some buffalo. That was listed as a really lean protein to use on the diet. Anyway, I had steamed cabbage with dinner. Then after dinner when I went to make the Orange Cremesicle for dessert I realized that I don’t have a blender. I broke it several months ago and forgot about it. So the grapefruit was whipped out to replace it. The kids were far less stoked for grapefruit than they were for Orange Cremesicle, but they got over it!
